KOREATOWN’S CHARITY EVENT OF THE YEAR AT RFK SCHOOLS

Korea Daily, the country’s largest Korean-language newspaper more popularly known as Joongang Ilbo, is holding its annual charity festival on December 11 and 12 on the grounds of the new Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools in Koreatown.

The event will feature a bazaar where businesses as well as families can sell their wares for the benefit of charity; live stage performances of both traditional Korean and urban American entertainment; games and activities for children and their families; and the iconic food trucks of Los Angeles.

The organization that Korea Daily has set up to directly manage and benefit from the event is the Korean American Volunteer Corps (KAVC), a group that has been helping minority communities through various programs since 2001. The hallmark event of KAVC is the charity festival they hold every year that is the largest such event in Koreatown.

This year, the festival is for two days, Saturday and Sunday, and will be from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Also distinctive this year is the participation of food trucks, including Komodo, The Sweets Truck, India Jones Chow Truck, Mighty Boba, The Place LA, Kogi™ and KO Tacos.

Further excitement is provided by the venue, which is the wide, inviting space at the newly opened Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools in Koreatown. Located at 701 South Catalina Street, the complex of schools was designed for 4200 students, many of whom will be attending the KAVC festival.
